The Aper Tief river is created by the confluence of the Great Norderbäke and Süderbäke rivers and extends to Detern, where it flows into the Jümme. There are three so-called retention areas on this stretch, which are used for flood protection. Two are in the Aper municipality. In addition to the "Vreschen-Bokel am Aper Tief" nature reserve, this is the "Aper Tief" nature reserve, THE favorite place of the Aper citizens. Above all, people appreciate the recreational value of the area, which combines peace and quiet and opportunities to move as well as nature experiences. Therefore, two artificial objects mark both the western and the eastern entrance of this area. In the east, on the corner of Aperbergerstrasse and Untersterer Weg, there is an object that points to the importance of the area as a place of sporting activity and exercise: Here people meet while cycling, jogging or walking. Jörg Ridderbusch has created three characters who carry out these activities. The bird lady Violetta jogs her daily workload, Frodewin, the frog pokes happily and Hector the deer rides his bike above everything. They are framed by a stylized fen bridge with a wind chime, so that this object refers to its counterpart in the west of the nature reserve.
